Fishin' Not Lookin' sells offshore fishing GPS numbers from the logbooks of Captain Gilbert Mathis, a commercial snapper and grouper fisherman who worked the South Atlantic from North Carolina to Florida for more than 25 years. They're built for offshore anglers with their own boat, and plenty of charter and commercial captains fish them too.

Where the numbers come from

Captain Mathis ran five commercial boats and a seafood market, Runners Seafood. He called the way he fished "color scope fishing": watch the screen, find new bottom, mark it, and write it down. Every trip went into his logbooks, first as Loran numbers and later as GPS, with notes on what was caught, the bottom, and the depth.

These numbers weren't pulled off a satellite map or copied from a public reef list. They're the spots he fished for a living.

Still fished and updated. I'm Mike. I run offshore charters out of St. Augustine, Jacksonville and Fernandina, and I've taken over Fishin' Not Lookin' from Captain Mathis's wife, Kathy.
